When you open a checking account with Whitestone Trust Credit Union, you can request a physical debit card during the application process. You will select your preferred card network — Visa, MasterCard, or Discover. The card is mailed to your registered address and typically arrives within 7–10 business days.
A debit card is a physical plastic card you can use in stores, at ATMs, and online. A virtual card is a digital-only card issued instantly through your dashboard — it has a unique card number, expiry date, and CVV, but exists only online. Virtual cards are ideal for online shopping and subscriptions because they keep your physical card details private.
All three networks offer global acceptance and strong security. Visa and MasterCard have the widest international acceptance for travelers. Discover is excellent for U.S.-based usage and often provides additional perks. You can choose any network — or all three — depending on your spending habits and travel needs.
Immediately freeze your card from your dashboard to prevent further unauthorized use. Then, contact customer support to report the transaction. We will investigate the charge and, if confirmed as unauthorized, reverse it under our zero-liability policy. A replacement card will be issued if necessary.
